The Creator Scarcity Problem

You have 3.6M creators willing to take your free product.

You have 50K creators who can actually sell it.

And maybe 500 who are killers in your niche.

80/20 Rule

Most of your GMV will come from your top 20% of creators.

For example, here are the top creators (anonymized) and their % of total GMV for one of our clients:

  • rick - 15.0%
  • abil - 6.7%
  • j4in - 5.7%
  • l278 - 4.6%

The top 5 creators drive 64% of all GMV!

You need to reward and incentive those top creators.

So they keep posting for you.

And not your competition.

Your 3 Tier Framework

You need to build a rewards system that helps you find and keep top creators.

Here's what you're going to do in your creator community.

Tier 1: Prospects (Unproven)

These are new to your brand creators with under $500 GMV.

They get:

  • Standard commission (15-20%)
  • Basic samples, i.e. your hero products - no collabs or exclusive bundles

Goal: Filter out freebie hunters and move winners up fast

Tier 2: Contributors (Proven)

These are creators who have posted 10+ videos and generated $1K+ GMV.

They get:

  • Higher commission (20-25%)
  • Priority samples, e.g. exclusive bundles, one-offs, higher ticket items
  • Featured them in your content (if you're doing organic)
  • Give them bonuses for success metrics, like [X] GMV in [Y] timeframe.

Goal: Keep them posting and build a relationship.

Tier 3: Partners (Power Creators)

These are creators who have posted 30+ videos and generated $10K+ GMV.

This is your top 10% of creators and your goldmine. You might call them VIPs.

They get:

  • Premium commissions (25-30%) and/or retainers (e.g. $200-$500/month)
  • Direct team access, co-creation, exclusive perks like swag and unique rewards

Goal: Lock them into long term content posting and keep them from going to your competitors.

Remember: Creators only have so many hours in a day and a TON of brands going after them. You want to make it easy for them to stay with you.

Why This Works

  1. You protect your budget. You don't start paying premium rates until your creators perform.
  2. You make posting aspirational. You gamify the creator posting system by providing levels & rewards for creators to target.
  3. You build a loyal creator community that posts regularly, which is key to your success on TikTok Shop.

How You Know It's Working

The metrics you should track for each creator:

  • Total GMV
  • Number of Videos Posted
  • GMV/Video
  • View-to-order Rate

You can use tools like FastMoss to automate this or track it manually in a spreadsheet.

Sell the Creators on Your System

Example messaging for your creator community:

“Welcome! Here’s our tier system:

🥉 Bronze (You are here) - 15% commission, standard samples

🥈 Silver (Unlock at 10 videos + $1K GMV) - 20% commission, priority samples, bonuses

🥇 Gold (Unlock at 30 videos + $10K GMV) - 25% commission, $300/month retainer, direct access”

Now creators know exactly what they’re working toward.

You can tweak the levels to match your brand size.

Keep Your Creators

Every week review your top 10 creators.

Proactively upgrade them before they ask.

“Hey [Name], you’ve crushed it with $X in sales. We’re upgrading you to Gold tier immediately. Here’s what that includes…”

That creator just became your biggest fan.

Treat your creators with the same care you give your customers.

Segment Your Communication Too

Tier 1: Mass messages, automated onboarding

Tier 2: Monthly check-ins, personalized messages

Tier 3: Weekly 1-on-1s, direct phone/text access

You can’t give everyone white glove treatment.

But you can give it to the top 20% that drive 80% of your GMV.

Bottom Line

The top 20% drive 80% of your results.

Find them. Reward them. Keep them.

Or watch your competitors do it instead.
